Sailing in Turkey is an experience of beautiful blue waters and great sceneries on the land. Turkey is a mix of old and new ways. There are ruins of ancient civilizations, small towns, hidden and beautiful bays and nightlife and modern marinas. The locals are friendly and the cuisine is delicious and exotic. The sailing area stretches from the Gulf of Gulluk around the Bodrum peninsula to the Lycian Coast. The Turkish waters suit all sailing abilities because of the wonderful wind and sailing conditions. As a rule the Meltemi thermal wind blows from May to October and peaks in July and August. The cooling sea breezes get stronger in the afternoons dropping to stillness at night.
